Terms
Updated 19 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Deltella when you use the Deltella app, sign in to a Deltella account, or open a notebook or board at boards.deltella.com. Deltella is made by Gavin Kenna. By using it you agree to these terms; if you do not, please do not use it. What Deltella keeps and who can read it is on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
A beta
Deltella is in beta. It is free while the beta lasts. It will change, things in it will break, and features may be added, changed, or taken away. Accounts and sharing may be open only to people with an invite.
Keep your own copies of anything you would mind losing. Back up, in the Library, saves every notebook and board on your computer as one file. During the closed beta Deltella’s server is not backed up, and a beta can lose work; that is a risk you take by using it.
If Deltella later charges for anything, you will be told before it applies to you, and nothing will be charged without you agreeing to it.
Who can use it
You must be 16 or over. You sign in with Microsoft or Google, and you are responsible for what is done through your account and on the computers you leave signed in. If you think someone else is using your account, sign that computer out in Settings and tell gavin@deltella.com.
What you write is yours
Your notebooks, whiteboards, pictures, and PDFs belong to you. Deltella claims no ownership of them. So that Deltella can work, you allow it to store them, copy them to your computers, and show them to the people you share them with, for as long as they are on your account. That permission is only for running Deltella for you. It ends when you delete them.
Only put things in Deltella that you have the right to. If you add someone else’s pictures, PDFs, or writing, make sure you are allowed to.
Files on your computer, Ask, and assistants
If you choose folders for Find to search, you allow Deltella to read the files in them on your computer, as the privacy page describes. It only reads them; it does not change, move, or send them.
Ask and search by meaning use language models made by others (at present Qwen3 by Alibaba Cloud, under the Apache 2.0 licence, and bge-small by BAAI, under the MIT licence), run by llama.cpp (MIT licence). They are downloaded from their publishers when you ask for them, and come under their own licences as well as these terms. Like everything in Deltella, they are provided as they are.
Ask’s answers can be wrong. A language model can misread a passage, choose the wrong one, or state something the passage does not say. Ask shows where each answer came from: check it before you rely on it, and do not rely on Ask alone for anything where a mistake would matter, such as travel, money, health, or legal matters.
If you let an AI assistant use Deltella, you choose what it may see and whether it may add pages, and you are responsible for that choice. What the assistant does with what it reads, and what it writes into your notebooks, is up to that assistant and its provider, under their own terms; Deltella is not responsible for it.
Sharing
A link is the key to what it shares. Anyone who has the edit link can read and change that notebook or board, and anyone with the view link can read it, whether or not you meant them to have it. You choose who gets your links, and you can make new ones or stop sharing at any time.
What people write on a board you share stays on your account and counts towards its space. If you write on someone else’s notebook or board, its owner can keep, change, or delete what you wrote.
Things you must not do
- Use Deltella for anything unlawful, or to store or share material that is illegal, that sexualises children, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
- Use it to harass, threaten, or abuse anyone, or to share someone’s private information without their consent.
- Share malware, or use links to deceive people into giving up passwords or money.
- Try to get into accounts, notebooks, or boards that are not yours or not shared with you, or to get around the space limits or the invite.
- Put excessive load on the server, scrape it, or test its security without asking first. If you find a security problem, please tell gavin@deltella.com.
- Sell, rent, or redistribute the Deltella app, or modified copies of it.
If you see something on Deltella that breaks these rules, or that infringes your rights, write to gavin@deltella.com with the link to it.
When Deltella may act
To keep Deltella working, and safe for the people using it, Deltella may remove something that breaks these terms, disable its links, or suspend or close an account, and may do so without notice when the problem is serious. Where it reasonably can, Deltella will tell you why. Deltella may also be required to give information to the authorities when the law requires it.
Ending
You can stop at any time. Delete account, in Settings, removes your account and what it keeps, as the privacy page describes. Notebooks only on your computer stay there and remain yours.
If the beta ends, or Deltella shuts down, you will be given at least 30 days’ notice by email to take a copy of what is on your account, unless something outside Deltella’s control makes that impossible.
No promises, and limits
Deltella is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. It is not promised to be uninterrupted, free of errors, or to keep everything you put in it.
As far as the law allows, Deltella is not liable for lost work, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect loss arising from your use of it, and its total liability to you is limited to €50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as Deltella does. The date at the top says when they last changed. If a change matters to you, signed-in users will be told in the app or by email before it applies. Using Deltella after a change applies means you accept it.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer, you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
